Hello Peter,

I was just looking around here and found this. I read the Spell of the Sensuous a while back and I loved it! It would be nice to have a discussion on it. What I found most interesting is how he spoke about the way our language had changed. We have lost the creative and living aspect of language. We don’t connect to the land in the way that our ancestors did either and that leaves our lives dry and lacking.

I have many times felt smothered by all the concrete and man-made creations. However, David points out that we need not loose the connection for good, that we can rediscover what is alive within our language as well as when we reconnect to the land.

I find that this book goes along with the opening aspects of TSK. It was so nice and refreshing to read something of this nature.

Blessings~Tina

The reference to phenomenology in the “fields of inquiry” posting reminded me of a profound book that would be excellent food for thought and discussion here: “The Spell of the Sensuous” by David Abram.
