Wonderment of Being

by Bruce on October 16, 2006

“Wonderment is the presence, the presenting, the appreciation of reality as Being. All appearance is sheer art, beautiful beyond all enduring, appealing beyond all possibility of possession. It cannot be possessed but it is entirely accessible. The treasure which our being preserves for us is like an ever-present nectar; it is like an inexhaustible kingdom which is always open to us.” ~ Tarthang Tulku, Time, Space, and Knowledge.

Awesome pic and I love the quote! It is truly a beautiful thing, to be able to stop, and see the pure beauty in life itself. It has always been there and always will be, but few are able to stop and appreciate the art of life.

Thank you for posting the quotation from Tarthang Tulku. Several years ago I ran across it in a Buddhist magazine, probably in an ad for the book. It hung from a bookshelf at my desk for some time, and for years the internal recital of “All appearance is sheer art, beautiful beyond all enduring” has transformed whatever is in my field of vision from a mere “scene” to, well, sheer art, and brought a spacious, present state of mind. I lost the quotation years ago. I was amazed that the search engine found it. Yours is the only posting. The image is sheer art, of course; how could it be anything else?!

Hi, Jack, yes, it’s a real feather. A magnified photo of a pheasant’s feather, which I found on a website called “Molecular Expressions.”

Best wishes,

Bruce

Truly a beautiful image. Is it a feather? Inspired by a feather?
