another thought…that heaviness seems to be related to that thick darkness of desire that Tarthang Tulku talks about…tlc
Hey Michael,
I distinguish the hard focus of ‘I’ from the more open experience of being…but have really allowed my ’self’ to ‘act out’ the past few weeks to get a good look and a ‘feel’ of the many ways the ‘I’ can be a tyrant…
But you are correct when you say that the part of our self that appears to limit our lives is heavy…that focal point of awareness is that ‘I’ that is heavy…compared to the experience of being…that joy…opening that space…and allowing for the dance…
thnx for commenting…tlc
Hi Tina,
It’s nice to have an energetic new voice posting here. What you say about inspiration coming from someplace other than the self is evocative. Openness and inspiration always seem to be their own reward. The issue of whether or not a self is involved, and how it might be operating, feels secondary to the respect owed to whatever allows us to feel alive. The baby in the bath water needs to be recognized as why we are looking at how the self spoils experience in the first place? And what we might sometimes call the self is hard to separate from this living core. Perhaps the part of the self that limits our lives is too heavy to be “picked up the breeze and scattered with the leaves”. –michael
